A lightsaber rifle is an extremely potent, powerful and destructive type of blaster that utilizes a lightsaber as a power source. When fired, a weapon unleashes extremely brutal and devastating blasts of energy. After continued use, however, the device will destroy the lightsaber that powers the device.

Lightsaber Rifle in Star Wars Canon
A lightsaber rifle is a weapon comprised of a long-barrelled gun. The user must load a functional lightsaber hilt into an open slot in order to properly use the weapon. Once the lightsaber is installed in the weapon, the lightsaber rifle becomes capable of firing extremely powerful and destructive blasts at an opponent.
Jedi Master Jocasta Nu secures a lightsaber rifle in the Jedi Archives for emergency use. During a confrontation with Darth Vader, Jocasta Nu loads her own lightsaber into a lightsaber rifle as ammunition. She fires the devastatingly powerful weapon at Darth Vader five times. Vader evades the blasts. The weapon runs out of ammunition and destroys her lightsaber. Darth Vader ultimately kills her.
Many years after Nu’s confrontation with Vader, Luke Skywalker, Ben Solo, and Lor San Tekka discover a lightsaber rifle in a Jedi outpost on the planet Elphrona.
Behind the Scenes
The lightsaber rifle first appears in the comic book Star Wars Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith 9 (2017). In the story, Jocasta Nu fires the lightsaber rifle at Darth Vader.
