Is the blade removable from a Hasbro Star Wars The Black Series Force FX lightsaber? You might be wondering this if you want to: swap the blade out, change the saber around, or wear the lightsaber hilt without the blade on your belt. Unfortunately, the blades are NOT removable from Star Wars The Black Series Force FX lightsabers. The blade is permanently attached to the hilt because the LEDs are embedded inside the blade itself. Blades with LEDs embedded inside of them are called string blades. If the blade were removable, the hilt would feature a blade retention screw in the emitter area.
UPDATE 2019: Force FX Elite Lightsabers, which are a newer kind of Force FX lightsaber, use removable blades.

Although the blades on Star Wars The Black Series Force FX lightsabers are not intended to be removed, some people WILL remove the blade and reconfigure the saber to accommodate a removable blade. This process is called a Force FX conversion. Removing the blade is complicated and differs for each lightsaber hilt design. Many people will hire someone to convert their saber for them. Yes, removable blades are important. I prefer to both display and wear the hilt, without the blade. That’s why I prefer Legacy Lightsabers from Galaxys Edge.
